Troubles for Chelsea FC continues as their star German CB, Antonio Rudiger rejects management’s contract extension plea. Rudiger was always uncertain regarding his future but ends his “Chelsea Dilemma” by rejecting another extension. This was Chelsea’s last attempt to extend.
Rudiger has always been available in the transfer market since Chelsea was unable to meet his contract requirements. Amongst all these, Rudiger also received offers from sides like Real Madrid and PSG but due to “professionalism” he stayed in Chelsea for this season.
In his final five months at Chelsea, Rudiger is earning 100 thousand euros a week. Considering this less, Rudiger wants an immediate boost along with several bonuses. According to the media, Chelsea’s recent bid was for 200 thousand euros per week but was again rejected by Rudiger and his agent.
His recent success at Chelsea has resulted in a lot of fame and increased Rudiger’s market value. Due to all these reasons, Rudiger feels his worth is more than 200 thousand euros a week. His love for Chelsea still remains as he stays till the end of the season.
Thomas Tuchel’s Desperation
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel is in a state of dilemma considering his “Defensive Situation”. As it stands, Center Back, Andreas Christensen has continuously rejected any contract extension requests, Club Captain and Right Back, Cesar Azpilicueta is also set to leave at the end of the season.
With the departure of Rudiger, a “hole” will be created in Tuchel’s defensive department causing a lot of troubles at the back. This has made Tuchel a worried man. Currently, only Thiago Silva’s contract extension has been successful.
Tuchel has conveyed to Chelsea’s board that immediate defensive reinforcements are required. Chelsea is expected to go “big” in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the extension of Rudiger’s contract still remains a top priority even after multiple rejections.
Antonio Rudiger’s “Crazy” Stats
The 28-year-old German Center-Back has always been Chelsea’s main man in defense. Helping them win several titles including the Champions League. Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, Rudiger is excellent with his heading ability and defensive skills.
Spending five glorious years at Chelsea, Rudiger remains faithful towards Chelsea’s fans. In an interview, Rudiger said, “The most important thing is that I feel happy here. I think if people look at it, they can see I’m happy”.
“This is not in my mind. I’m focused on what I’m doing because this is why I wake up every morning.”
Looking at the current contract situation, Rudiger feels that he deserves 400 thousand euros a week. With this in mind clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester United will be in line to sign the center back on a free transfer.
