Morata to Barcelona Move “Complicated”, Frustration for Both Parties

The long awaited winter transfer move of Alvaro Morata to FC Barcelona still remains un done. The Blaugrana see Morata as their main target for this season’s window but are unable to reach a deal.

The situation is really complicated as Morata is currently on loan to Juventus from Atletico Madrid. Hence to get Morata, Barcelona have to go through two different levels of negotiations. This struggle has resulted in both parties being frustrated and could cause the deal to lapse.

According to the reports in Diario AS, Alvaro Morata is keen to join FC Barcelona as he needs a fresh start from his “current” situation. Morata has been on and off loan spells in both Atletico Madrid and Juventus, making it difficult for him to adjust in the conditions.

The new “Xavi” era at FC Barcelona has caught Morata’s eye and since then he’s been eager to represent the Catalan Giants.

Xavi’s “Striker” Problem

Looking at Barcelona’s current situation, the club lacks proper number nine. Despite signing Luuk De Jong and Memphis Depay, Barcelona haven’t been able to score goals. Both these players have been inconsistent and do not suit the “Xavi” style of play.

Barca is keen on signing a proper striker due to these reasons and looking at the current market, Alvaro Morata is their best bet. Morata has been Spain’s main man in recent years, scoring important goals such as the Euro Semi Final Equalizer and performing well in the UEFA Nations League.

Morata is good with ball control and picking spaces behind the defenders making him a predator inside the penalty box. All these factors have heavily caught Xavi’s attention making Morata the ideal striker for his current system at FC Barcelona.

“Stubborn” Allegri

Since the return of Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus haven’t looked their absolute best, with scoring less goals, dropping points and inability to create chances. This is also due the fact that their star striker and main man, Cristiano Ronaldo left in the summer transfer window to Manchester United.

With Ronaldo’s departure, Juventus have a very few options left when it comes in the striking department. Due to this reason, Allegri has become stubborn and is trying to sabotage Morata’s move to FC Barcelona.

If Morata leaves, the only pure number nine for Juventus will be Moise Kean who is still inexperienced. Hence, Juventus are deliberately trying to make the Morata Move “difficult” which has resulted in Morata being frustrated.

Looking at the current situation, the Morata to Barcelona deal seems a little complicated. In case Juventus receive a striker, Morata will be allowed to leave. Until this happens, both parties have to patiently wait.
