Paris Saint Germain thrashed 14th position Reims yesterday night. Sergio Ramos scored his first goal to contribute in the 4-0 win.
The French giants had a perfect night at the Parc Des Prince. The fans saw one of their star signings from the transfer window score his first goal. The veteran center back has scored 101 goals for his former club Real Madrid.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side opened the scoring from an unlikely source as Verratti scored at the end of the first half. It was his first goal in Ligue 1 since 2017.
The Ligue 1 leaders finished the game in the second half by scoring 3 goals. One from Sergio Ramos, an own goal from Wout Faes, and one from Danilo Perreira.

Sergio Ramos admits that ‘It was hard in the beginning’
The Spanish defender had a tough start to his season at Paris Saint Germain.
After completing an eye-catching transfer this season, the 35 year old struggled with injuries.
Sergio Ramos took his time to return as he wanted to recover properly. He had a knee injury right after joining the French giants.
Also, after a month, he suffered an injury in his soleus muscle. It was a recurring injury as he had similar problems at Real Madrid.
But the veteran center back can turn things around with this goal. He will face his former club next month so he would like to be fully fit for that encounter.
“I’m very happy for this victory and my first goal with this team”, he said after the game. “I’m happy to have played 90 minutes. I like to have the support of the public.
It’s my first goal with PSG and I hope there will be many more. It’s important to build up habits and routines. I’ve been back with the group for three weeks and I’m getting into the rhythm.
I’m very happy because I’ve been away from the pitch for a long time, which is my home. I feel very happy.
Regarding the city of Paris, I feel better today because I had spent a lot of time in Madrid before. It was hard at the beginning but now I feel a little better.”
Many were starting to doubt Ramos’ abilities but the Spanish defender seems to be getting back in form. His former rival, who is now his teammate, Lionel Messi also returned after recovering from COVID.
What’s next for Paris Saint Germain?
The Ligue 1 leaders have a tough run of fixtures in February. This includes the most awaited match with Real Madrid in the round of 16 UEFA Champions League.
First, they will face Nice in the Round of 16 Coupe De France. They are having a great season as they sit in 2nd position in the Ligue 1 table.
Then they face Lille and Rennes before facing the La Liga leaders on the night of 15th February.
Many PSG players have fond memories of playing with and against Real Madrid. So, they will be looking forward to this encounter including Sergio Ramos who played with the Los Blancos for 16 years.
