Is José Mourinho Coming Home to Rebuild Roman's Empire at Stamford Bridge?

In the recent months, we have been perching on the edge of our seats to see the outcome of José Mourinho’s future. After an rather unsuccessful year at Real Madrid, Mourinho failed to gather any silverware, causing outrage across Spain’s capital. Last week, Mourinho confirmed that he will be leaving the Spanish club after a week of utter horror for him. He lost the Spanish Cup to Atlético Madrid with the score of 2-1 after Ronaldo and himself were sent off; soon after he confirmed his departure from the club.

But will he be going home? He is loved in England, and Chelsea cannot wait to get their hands on the so called “Special One.” If he was to come home next season, it would be the perfect timing for his arrival, with his forever called rival Sir Alex Ferguson leaving Manchester United and Manchester City also needing a new manager. Mourinho managed Chelsea back in 2004 after he resigned from Porto following an incredible campaign which saw him bring home the Portuguese Title as well as the winning the highly-regarded UEFA Champions League.

He won the Premier League and the League Cup in his first season at Chelsea, and soon followed up with another Premier League Title and an FA Cup the season after. In September 2007, he was sacked after falling out with Roman Abramovich. He then went on to win the Champions League with Inter Milan and the Spanish League with Real Madrid.

Mourinho has said before that his business was never finished at Chelsea and will never be finished until he has won the Champions League with them. But if he does come back, will it be a walk in the park or will it be a disaster? Have you ever seen a good sequel to a great film?

Mourinho has to deliver again, he has got the cockiness to succeed, but after this horrible season, can he get back up and fight again? He needs to bring in top players at Chelsea to rebuild the alliance of the 2004-2005 season. Drogba has left, Terry is starting to show his age, and Lampard is still going strong and could be a key factor to his success. Mourinho has to use the youngsters from Chelsea, such as Lukaku, who could be built into an even better Drogba, and the likes of Gary Cahill and David Luiz; they could be the key to Chelsea’s back four troubles.

The Portuguese manager needs to get Fernando Torres back to his best as well. He has been showing it in the past few weeks by scoring in the Europa League Final in which Chelsea beat Benfica 2-1, and has also shown a great deal of pace and will to score under interim manager Rafa Benitez. Since the signing of Juan Mata, Torres has been influenced by his work ethic and great deal of skill in the middle of the park.

Jose Mourinho has the players to succeed and no doubt will get them on his side, but will it be better than his last reign at the previous Champions Of Europe, or will his second spell at the club fail to impress? Hopefully he will rebuild his name as the “Special One” but we will have to wait and see.
