Raymond Domenech Calls Karim Benzema Useless

Karim BenzemaKarim Benzema, despite his side having managed a 3-1 victory against Georgia on Friday night, was highly criticized for a below-average performance during Friday night’s game.

Benzema had a few chances presented to him, but wasted all of them, and had his team not found another way around the Georgia defense, his failure to take these chances could have cost them deeply. His presence in attack was almost not felt or seen, which is very disappointing.

Raymond Domenech, the former manager of the French national team, who has never been shy to make his feelings known, came out to the world (via Twitter), clearly stating that he didn’t think Benzema was of any use.

“I had already said it: Benzema confirms his uselessness and Ribery is still inconsistent. But that was before!”

Raymond Domenech was, however, impressed with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi and Olympique Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena and said:

“Valbuena and Matuidi are certain to face Spain. Ribery will also play Spain.”

Arsenal FC striker and fellow teammate, Olivier Giroud thought the opposite and backed his teammate by stating that this wasn’t the case:

“He created chances. I was trying to set him up too. I was trying to find it. It’s a partnership that could work and we achieved a lot tonight. There are no problems.”

Karim Benzema’s Season

The Real Madrid striker, who currently has an estimated cost of about £35m, has scored 8 and assisted 8 for his club in the Spanish Liga BBVA this season, having played for 1194 minutes with 22 appearances. He has also scored 3 and assisted 3 for his club in the UEFA Champions League this season, having played for 391 minutes with 6 appearances.

Karim BenzemaIn addition, Benzema has 4 goals and 3 assists to his name for Real Madrid in the Spanish Copa Del Rey, having played for 410 minutes with 7 appearances. In the Spanish Supercopa, having played for 68 minutes in 2 games but scored and assisted 0.

Benzema has been involved in 3 friendlies for his country, playing for 197 minutes and scoring 0 goals and with no assists. For the World Cup Qualifiers for France, Benzema has played 4 matches (357 minutes), scored 0 goals, but has assisted 2.

And here’s the one that’s really upset Raymond Domenech: Karim Benzema has not scored for his country for 929 minutes now. The last time the Lyon born striker scored for his country was back in June of last year, when his country beat Estonia 4-0, where he scored 2 goals and assisted 1.

Karim Benzema, therefore, has a total of 15 goals and 16 assists for the 2617 minutes he’s been on the pitch this season in 44 games. Karim is certainly going to have to up his game to get on Raymond’s good side, as well as that of the “Les Bleus” fans, from whom he received a little booing this past Friday.
